About
The History

Where It All Began

Our historic venue was built in 1924 for the Hamachek Machine Company using Cream City brick, giving the hall its distinctive and characteristic yellow color. The building served as Hamachek Machine Company’s carpenters’ shop until the company closed its doors in 2002.

Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future

In 2013, the Vollrath Company, an anchor of the Kewaunee community, purchased several of the former Hamachek buildings and donated this magnificent facility to a non-profit group for civic use. The Lakeshore Community Center, incorporated, was founded to run the event center and renamed it “Lakehaven” in an ambitious journey to give the building new life.

Restored With Purpose

Since then, many have worked tirelessly to update Lakehaven, including a newly renovated conference center and restrooms. Having maintained its chic, one-of-a-kind industrial look, Lakehaven has been transformed into the perfect space for community and charity events.

Our Vision and Mission

Lakehaven is a non-profit community event center, serving Northeastern Wisconsin and the Door/Peninsula communities with fun and exciting events.  Community and culture focused, Lakehaven is committed to bringing cultural exhibitions, workshops, and performances that both explore our traditions and history.  Aimed at supporting local charities, special support organizations, and individuals, Lakehaven offers a wide range of cultural and fundraising events in which we invite all to participate.
